How the dates are worked out

Swedish salaries are most commonly paid on the 25th of the month. Banks do not process payments on weekends or public holidays, so when the 25th lands on one of those days the payment is moved backwards to the last banking day before it. Employers pay early rather than late.

That is why December is always the odd one out: the 25th is Christmas Day and the 24th is Christmas Eve, so December pay reliably arrives a couple of days early – in 2026 on Wednesday 23 December.

Common questions

When is the next payday?

The next payday is Wednesday 25 November 2026 - 32 days from today. Nollan.se updates the countdown automatically every day.

Why do some paydays fall before the 25th?

Because banks do not process payments on weekends or public holidays. When the 25th lands on such a day, employers pay on the last banking day before it – earlier rather than later, so you are not left waiting.

Which days are non-banking days in Sweden?

Saturdays and Sundays, plus New Year's Day, Epiphany, Good Friday, Easter Monday, May Day, Ascension Day, the National Day, Midsummer Eve and Day, All Saints' Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.

Is the 25th the payday everywhere?

No. The 25th is the most common reference point in Sweden, but plenty of workplaces pay on the 27th, the 20th or the last banking day of the month. Check your employment contract – and set your own payday on the Nollan.se dashboard so the countdown matches you.
