Nollan.se shows a quote on the front page every day, drawn from a collection of a few hundred. Adopting a date means your own quote or greeting replaces that day's quote, for everyone who opens the site on that date, along with your name.
So it is not an advert and not a profile page. It is one line of text on one date, in the same format as everything else on the site.
The text stands alone on the screen, without context, in front of someone who opened the site to check the weather. What works is therefore short and concrete. A line that means everything to one person and nothing to anyone else is usually better than an attempt at something universal.
Bear in mind that the date returns if you choose it forever. A greeting tied to one particular year ages badly, while a name and a sentence does not.
Every order is read by a person before it is published, for a simple reason: the text is shown to every visitor that day. What gets rejected is advertising, anything that offends or exposes someone, and text naming a private individual who did not ask for it. A greeting to someone you know is of course fine; it is writing about someone unkindly that does not pass.
If your content is rejected you get your money back. You can also cancel before it has been approved and published. Once published the service counts as delivered, and those rules are set out in full in the terms of service.
You get an email once the date is approved. Then nothing happens until the day arrives, and the text sits there for the whole day, midnight to midnight, for everyone who opens Nollan.
Choose one year and it disappears afterwards, freeing the date again. Choose forever and it returns every year on the same date, with nothing more for you to do.
